Barbara Joan Bishop


Barbara Joan Bishop, 79, of Springfield passed away peacefully Sunday, January 11, 2009 in the Mt. Carmel West Hospital. She was born September 14, 1929 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Wilson) Mitchell.

Joan loved her cats, laughing and playing cards. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Jeff Brannan of Cincinnati, Ohio and Becky and Jeff Bland of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Steve Rust of West Jefferson, Ohio; one sister, Marjorie Jefferis of Columbus, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Virginia Mitchell of Springfield; six grandchildren, John, David, Jeremiah, Lindsey, Auston and Samantha; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Terre Haute Cemetery.
