Althea E. Barnes


Althea E. Barnes, 88, of Springfield, died Monday evening, December 8, 2008 in Villa Springfield.

She was born in Lyndon, Ohio on September 28, 1920 the daughter of Henry and Charlotte (Atwood) Steiner.

Althea was a member of the Third Church of God (Clifton Ave. Church of God) for many years.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, James and Carol Steiner of Springfield and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ed Brigner; second husband, Harry Barnes; six sisters; and four brothers.

Althea's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. William Yowler officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at Villa Springfield and Vitas Hospice for the devoted care given to Althea.
