Robert Austin
Robert "Bob" Austin, 86, of Springfield, died Friday morning, July 11, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, Fountain Campus following several months of failing health.
He was born in Greenup, Kentucky on November 25, 1921 the son of Charles and Lydia (Butts) Austin.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. He retired as a tool and die maker from Kelsey Hayes Speco after over 30 years of service. Bob was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1031 where he was a part of the "Lunch Bunch", F.O.E. Aerie 397, Loyal Order of Moose, and the Union Club.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nina Mae (Stone) Austin; two children, Colleen Parsons of Fairborn and Robert D. Austin of Springfield; two grandsons, Anthony Parsons and Christopher Parsons; a great granddaughter, Aaliyah Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Miriam Mendenhall and Virginia Morris; and five brothers, George, Charles, Lawrence, Art, and Jack Austin.
Bob's memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor James Clayton officiating.
