Russell E. Arnett


Russell E. Arnett, 83, formerly of Medway, passed away Wednesday February 11, 2009 in Springfield. He was born August 10, 1925 in Dayton, the son of the late Elmer & Margaret (Murphy) Arnett. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII receiving a Purple Heart while serving under General Patton in the 5th Div. He was a F&AM member of the Blue Lodge, New Carlisle and was a member of Medway United Methodist Church. He retired as Assistant Fire Chief after 51 years at the Bethel Township Fire Department. He is the last surviving member who formed the V.F.W. Post 9684, Medway. He retired from WPAFB as a machinist in 1985.

He is survived by three children, Tim & Cindy Arnett, Randy & Sue Arnett, Kathy & Tim Dennis; two granddaughters; four grandsons; two great grandsons and a great granddaughter; a sister, Marian Paul in Loveland, Colorado; many precious nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, MaryAnn.

A memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday February 20, 2009 at the Word of Faith Family Church, 3660 Springfield-Jamestown Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45502 with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday February 21, 2009 at Medway Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Township Fire Department.
