Doris S. Alexander


Doris S. Alexander, 79, of Springfield passed away on Friday, July 13, 2007 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born April 14, 1928 in Springfield, the daughter of John and Addie (Morrow) Stabler.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Don Alexander, a retired Springfield Firefighter, her parents, sons David and James, and her brother Kenneth Stabler.

Doris was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church. She is deeply loved by her three surviving daughters, Sue Alexander of Summerville, SC, Amy Alexander and Julie Turner of Springfield; son-in- law Marc Turner; grandchildren Jodie Garringer, Chad (Amy) Turner, Trish (Darren) Rich; great grandchildren Alec and Kaylee Rich, Corbin, Carson, and Ansley Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

She spent many cherished hours in recent years with her numerous card-playing buddies. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, July 15, 2007, from 4-6 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. The service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Doris and her family have been deeply touched by the care and love given by the nurses and caregivers of Community Hospital oncology department, Dr. Daljeet Singh and the Springfield Regional Cancer Center, along with the family of caregivers that we spent so much time with at Forest Glen Health Campus.
