Barbara L. Allen


Barbara L. (Emmons) Allen, 65, of Springfield died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Community Hospital following two months illness. She was born May 22, 1943 in Springfield the daughter of Edward C. and Mildred (Emmons) Cox and lived here most of her life.

Barbara was a member of the Pythian Sisters and was an avid Bingo Player and CBer known by the handle "Lady Raindrop."

She is survived by her husband Estel L. "Butch" Allen; two brothers and sisters-in-law Willard E. (Diane) Cox of St. Paris and David C. (Dianne) Cox of Urbana; In-laws Estle L. and Judy Allen of Mechanicsburg; Special aunts and uncle Emma Emmons, and John and Donna Emmons all of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Terry Cox.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Rev. Paul Price officiating. The family will receive visitors Saturday from 10-11 AM. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
