Woodrow E. Boysel, Sr.


Woodrow E. (Bus) Boysel, Sr., 85, of South Charleston, Ohio died peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Eaglewood Care Center. Son of Harvey Boysel and Lillian Pinkerton Boysel, Bus was born on January 4, 1923 in Pike County, Ohio.

Bus retired from the Koehring-Bomag Road Division in 1982. After his retirement he loved to spend time being around his family. His face would beam when seeing his grandkids walk through the door when they came for visits. Watching endless cowboy movies and gardening was also among his favorite pastimes. He was always proud of his garden. He was known for his ability of growing wonderful tomato plants. He definitely had a gardener's green thumb. He served his country in the US Army during World War II.

Mr. Boysel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura Louise (Wilson) whom he married on September 17, 1942 in Covington, Kentucky; Sons, Larry (Jane) Boysel, of Bluffton, SC, Rick (Sharon) Boysel, of Jamestown, OH; Daughter, Shelly (Dan) Davis, of South Vienna, Ohio, daughter-in-law, Becky Boysel of South Charleston, Ohio. Also, grandchildren, Andrea (Mark) Toops, Amy (Jim) Holland, Jim (Jaime) Boysel, Traci (Keith) Murrell, Brian (Adrian) Boysel, Michelle (Jason) Dutton, Jason Boysel, Lauren, Ryan and Allison Davis. Great-grandchildren: Matthew and Mallory Toops, Ashley and Cody Holland, Luke and Nathan Boysel, Jordan Routzahn, Kaitlin and Emily Murrell, and Macyn Boysel; one sister Edie (George) Lavey, Deltona,FL, sister-in-law Mary (Bill) Litteral of South Charleston, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Boysel was preceded in death by his parents; son Woodrow E. Boysel, Jr. and siblings; Clint, Bert, Iva, Jess, Elmer, Nellie, and Myrtle.

Family and friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services will be Friday at 2:00 PM in the memorial home with Pastor Mark Martin of Maiden Lane Church of God officiating. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston.
