Julia Frances Brooks


Julia Frances Brooks, 88, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on March 26, 1920, the daughter of David E. and Bessie Jane (Mitchem) McWilliams.

Julia was a member of the Promise Christian Fellowship and her hobbies included working cross word puzzles and crocheting. But her greatest pastime was being with all her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest Brooks; daughter Vickie Strader; sisters Bessie Adkins, Billie Cochran, Susan Reed, Alma Dean, Beatrice North, and Jesse McWilliams; brothers Willard and Merle McWilliams.

Julia is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law Carol and Toulman Smith of Lebanon, Brenda Breslin and Ginny and Bud Davis both of Springfield; three sons and two daughters-in-law Bill and Loretta Brooks of Springfield, John Brooks of S. Vienna, and Gary and Beth Brooks of Springfield; one sister Nellie Greathouse; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday in the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. A celebration of Julia's life will be Friday at 1:00 PM in the memorial home with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston. Memorial contributions are requested to the Promise Christian Fellowship or the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church.
